AN EVALUATION ON READING MATERIALS IN ENGLISH TEXTBOOK ENTITLED “GET ALONG WITH ENGLISH” PUBLISHED BY ERLANGGA

The subject of this research three textbook for each grade students for Vocational School. The evaluation criteria are adapted from the good reading materials criteria by Cunningsworth (1995). This research was designed as descriptive-quantitative research with checklist as its instrument to collect and analyze the data. The result of this research showed that the reading materials in the first textbook got 67% categorized as good, the reading materials in the second textbook got 75% categorized as good, and the reading materials in the third textbook got 54% categorized as sufficient. It was then recommended that teachers need to modify some components in the reading materials in the textbooks which did not fulfill the criteria of good reading materials
